located between Palo, Iowa and Cedar Rapids, Iowa along the bluffs of the Cedar River. Jim and Jodi Holloway, Harry Wood and I spent a couple of different days in the spring of 2000 shooting pictures and checking out some of the unusual plant life at the preserve. When I got home, I combined the two top images in Photoshop and created the illusion of a giant, mutant skunk cabbage. It almost created a crisis when I sent the bottom photo out to some people, explaining that it was taken a couple of miles downstream of the nuclear power plant in Palo. Don't believe everything you think you see! |
