Harry's Big Cabbage

The two top photos were taken at the Hanging Bog Preserve,
located between Palo, Iowa and Cedar Rapids, Iowa along the bluffs of the Cedar River.
Jim and Jodi Holloway, Harry Wood and I spent a couple of different days
in the spring of 2000 shooting pictures and checking out some of the unusual plant life
at the preserve. When I got home, I combined the two top images in Photoshop
and created the illusion of a giant, mutant skunk cabbage.
It almost created a crisis when I sent the bottom photo out to some people,
explaining that it was taken a couple of miles downstream of the
nuclear power plant in Palo. Don't believe everything you think you see!
