The Ever Changing Aurora Borealis

I went up to Gullrock Lake In Northern Ontario last summer and was entertained almost every night with a brilliant auroral display. Shortly after dark, the sky would start to glow in the north. By midnight, it would be ablaze with the most beautiful light shows. The arcs of glowing gases would shoot across the sky from the northern horizon, all the way over head and down into the southern part of the sky. They were constantly changing shape and color and then suddenly be gone and start again somewhere else. The two photos above were taken about 3 minutes apart. Notice the change in color over such a short period.
