Comet S4 Linear

Comet C/1999 S4 (LINEAR) was going to possibly be visible to the naked eye in the late summer of 2000, but in July, astronomers noticed that it appeared to be breaking up. I thought I'd better get up to the observatory and grab a shot of this inner solar system trespasser before it met it's fate and disintegrated into nothingness. I finally got a good night and managed to get one nice shot before the night was over. It's a good thing I got it when I did because it started to vaporize the next night and had vanished a day later.
