I was driving in towards Des Moines from the east one morning, when I started to notice a small storm cell building over west of town. As the sun started to rise behind me, the light on the anvil cloud ahead was beautiful but I knew it wouldn't last long. I pulled over to the side of the road and took the first picture. Within two or three minutes, the sun was up higher and the yellow light at the bottom of the cloud was gone. A friend of mine pointed out later that he could almost see a buffalo face in the photo. I flipped the image and with a little enhancement in Photoshop, saw something much more sinister than a buffalo face! That is one nasty looking storm!
